The young adults of this generation are more socially aware of everything that is going on in the world more than any other generation before. We do not sit around and allow the media to tell us lies, we question everything that happens in the world, we are more aware of self and how we connect in the world. The best thing about having this awareness is joining with other like minded individuals and discussing these aspects of life and more.

Souls N Substance is an organization who aims to unite creatives, agents of change and the intellectuals of our generation for a journey to social awareness. Created by Kayla St. Cloud in 2013, she has created inclusive and diverse spaces where people can unite, express themselves, share experiences and grow. There are several different programs within the SNS organization and one of them is (Soul)cial Consciousness (SoCon). Shared on the YouTube page, people join together for an open dialogue of issues affecting their lives and communities-with this they are able to learn from one another.

The second program is Souls United which is a service based initiative that focuses on planting seeds that inspire and uplift children.

The third program is a self titled event where are all things “art” are celebrated. Creatives of different art realms all share one stage and area to spread the talents and gifts that were given to them. The next Souls N Substance will be in Charlotte at The Showroom Gallery (1801 N. Tryon Street, Suite 611), July 25th. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 or online here. The show will start at 7:30 pm and will have some great performances from artists of every spectrum. Go out to experience art and connect with beautiful souls.
