Milestone x Smoke DZA & Pete Rock Feat. Jadakiss, Styles P & BJ the Chicago Kid

Two of hip-hops’ most respected, Smoke DZA and Pete Rock, have teamed together to make a collaborative album that will be releasing just in time for Christmas on December 2nd. Don’t Smoke Rock will feature other greats on the scene such as Dave East, Wale, Big K.R.I.T., Dom Kennedy, Mac Miller, Rick Ross and more. Today they drop off the second single from the project entitled, “Milestone”, joined by Jadakiss, Styles P and BJ the Chicago Kid. The chorus of “I’m gone hold you down” sets the tone for the piano-rifts throughout the track as each end their verse with different milestones.

The duo actually met up years ago when they began to discuss recording as a team. Smoke DZA recalls Pete Rock passing through his neighborhood and them chopping it up but it wasn’t until a beat from Funk Flex came DZA’s way that  they knew should collab. “Funk Flex was working on this mixtape and he sent me this beat that PR did, and I was like, ‘Yo, I need a verse on this. Pete Rock made the beat!?’ and that started the working relationship”, says Dza. “From there we did a cut on my album Dreams.Zone.Achieve, called ‘Achieve.’ From there, PR was like, ‘Yo we just need to do a whole joint.’  You know, here we are.” Pete continues, “I’m all for working with the younger generation. Smoke is a younger cat with an old soul, he made me realize that with the beats he picked. [Beats] I thought would go over his head, instead, he would get into some of that soulful stuff. I make beats. Whether you’re young or of age or whatever. As long as you’re dope, you got me.”
